West Loop restaurant Vivo has turned its upstairs banquet room into an "upperground" cocktail lounge. The space takes its name from a large safe at the front of the room; it was there when the restaurant opened more than two decades ago and is so heavy it hasn't been moved since. Espresso-hued sofas strewn with zebra-stripe pillows and windows looking out onto Randolph Street lend a living-room vibe. Drink offerings include champagne service, after-dinner cordials and cocktails ranging from a the classic sazerac to the Lotus Blossom, a rosemary-lavender-lychee-ginger concoction. A lounge menu features antipasti trays, mini-crabcakes, prosciutto-wrapped asparagus, though any dish off the full menu from downstairs can be ordered by request.
