This mostly carryout Rogers Park restaurant serves roughly a half-dozen tamales, including cheese and bean tamales, chicken tamales served with red mole, and sweet tamales made with strawberry or pineapple. In addition to the tamales, which as styled after the hearty filled-husk fare you'd find in Mexico's Guerrero state, the eatery also offers a popular soup made with corn and fried pork--it's served only on weekends, when families from the neighborhood stop in for steaming bowls. Popular add-ons include rich Mexican hot chocolate and a warm variation on horchata, plus house-made flan for dessert.
