With a mission to preserve and educate Swedish-American heritage, the Swedish American Museum Center attracts over 40,000 visitors annually. Aside from its permanent exhibit documenting the experience of Swedish Americans (with some artifacts dating back to 200 years), the museum also hosts four annual exhibits, featuring the works of Scandinavian artists. In addition to teaching classes in folk dancing, genealogy and Swedish language, the center also showcases concerts, films and lectures. Available for birthday parties, the Children's Museum of Immigration, located within the center, also offers educational programs.
