This casual counter-service Roscoe Village restaurant -- named after the owner's sons, who manage it -- opened in summer 2010 after undergoing a two-and-a-half year renovation. Instead of ice cream, the eatery offers more than a dozen types of premium gelato and sorbet -- plus paninis and more than 15 1/3-lb. pound beef, salmon and other burgers. However, meaty meals and dessert aren't the only items listed on the chalkboard menus that decorate Mario and Gino's walls; the restaurant also serves several soup and salad selections -- and homemade Italian ice.
