The name of this 170-seat fusion spot on the 15th floor of the Holiday Inn Chicago Mart Plaza is about as descriptive as you can get: The concept here is Italian-Asian fusion, with the Asian part drawing most influences from Japanese and Chinese culinary traditions. The marriage plays out in dishes such as beef carpaccio with arugula, parmigiano-reggiano, caper berries and (wait for it) soy-wasabi vinaigrette, and the house take on veal osso bucco: slow-braised veal shank with sake, saffron-scented risotto, edamame and gremolata. There are also a few more or less straight Italian dishes and a selection of pizzas that includes both traditional (four-cheese) and kind of out-there (hoisin chicken, a chicken-mozzarella-hoisin sauce-bell pepper-cilantro combo) selections.
