Gingarte relocated from Logan Square to Pilsen in January 2008.

Founded by Brazilian Marisa Cordeiro in 1991, this academy is the largest capoeira organization (an Afro-Brazilian martial art incorporating fighting, dance and gymnastic elements with live music) in the Midwest. In addition to daily classes at their Pilsen headquarters, they also offer affiliate classes at the Old Town School of Folk Music, the University of Chicago and other venues. Class schedules change each semester at the universities and non-students are welcome to attend. Call for details.

Also offered are samba lessons, Portuguese language classes and capoeira-related music classes.
