Carmichael's management insists this is not a special-occasion steakhouse. Although it has all the custom woodwork and clubby atmosphere of the big downtown steakhouses, Carmichael's is a bit more accessible, a little warmer to the casual diner. There's a full roster of microbrews on tap to chase all the meat on the menu, plus a lineup of gigantic martinis with custom olives (like the al forno, stuffed with roasted garlic and fontina cheese). An unusual touch: customers love Carmichael's Brussels sprouts -- prepared with light cream and smoked bacon.
