This Halsted Street spot is a welcome departure from the typical Lincoln Park neighborhood joint, offering a swank atmosphere and an ambitious, Mediterranean-influenced contemporary American menu created by award-winning executive chef Giuseppe Tentori (a Food & Wine Best New Chef 2008). Entrees change frequently, but past offerings have included black sesame-crusted salmon with green tea noodles, shiitake mushrooms, cauliflower and soy emulsion; and beef tenderloin with fried ceci gnocchi, salsify-sunchoke pave and chanterelles. In addition to the stylish dining room, there's a lush outdoor patio where seats are coveted in summer months. Located just down the street from the Steppenwolf, Boka is easily one of the best pre-theater options around.
