The small depot was built in 1854, one of the first stations in the Fox River area, which was once webbed with railroads. The museum is now a pleasant stop along the Fox River Bike Path and features permanent and changing exhibits about local history, including a Mary Lincoln room with furnishings from the Batavia sanitarium where the First Lady stayed for a short period. Indians, pioneers and early industries (Batavia was one of the nation's leading windmill centers) figure into the permanent exhibit, and a small library with local, Civil War and other slices of history is available at the Depot Museum.
