The sad anniversary of “Kristallnacht,” Nov. 9, 1938, will be memorialized on its 80th anniversary, at Ezra-Habonim, the Niles Township Jewish Congregation, starting with a dinner at 6:30 p.m., and concluding with a special religious service. It includes honoring the founding of two synagogues in Chicago that same year. A Saturday morning Sabbath Service, starts at 9:30 a.m. the next day, and also recalls both Kristallnacht and the founding of the two synagogues— Habonim in Hyde Park and Ezra in Lakeview. A Kiddush lunch, after the service, will be followed by a round-table discussion of the events that occurred in Nazi Germany. The commemorative weekend continues with a free Men’s Club breakfast on Nov. 11, at 10 a.m., also honoring Veterans’ Day; view the movie, “GI Jews - Jewish Americans in World War II” and a discussion.
