This documentary delves into the media frenzy surrounding a controversial altercation that took place in the West Village, a typically gay-friendly neighborhood in New York City. A group of young African-American lesbians were violently threatened by a man on the street, and in defending themselves were scandalously maligned by the media and dubbed a “Gang of Killer Lesbians.” Four of the women were convicted and sentenced to prison in a shocking verdict that seemed to ignore the facts and instead followed the inflammatory accounts by the press. Director Blair Doroshwalther interviews the women themselves, reporters, officers, and family members, trying to piece together what really happened that night.
