“Terroir” is a French wine term that’s bandied about with abandon. It translates to “earth, dirt, and land,” but what does it mean in terms of a wine’s character? Can we easily tell the difference between Old World and New World wines? At this playful and instructive tasting, we’ll showcase two examples of each grape variety made in different regions and consider the differences. Blind tasting forces us to focus on what’s actually in the glass and is a practiced skill that’s useful for all levels.
