Francis O'Neill Irish Arts Week celebrates Captain Francis O’Neill (1848-1936), the Irish-born Chief of Chicago Police who, while living and working in Chicago, published the first of his music collections. Entitled, “Music of Ireland,” it features over eighteen-hundred Irish traditional tunes largely sourced from fellow Irish immigrants in Chicago. The week offers concerts, cultural lectures, nightly jam sessions, a kids day camp, adult workshops all revolving around traditional Irish music.
