Music and art, in all its forms, will be on visible and tangible display at the 6th Annual Edgewater Arts Festival. The festival is a family-oriented event that is a feast for the senses, full of sights, sounds, smells and flavors that showcase the incredible cultural diversity and artistic talent that make up this rich and unique north-side neighborhood. 100 Chicago-based artists, selected by juried process, exhibit original works in painting, drawing, photography, hand-made jewelry, glasswork, illustration, pottery, mixed media and functional/wearable art. Featured artists include: Photographs by Kevin Flynn, paintings by John Cooper, Kathy Gemperle ceramics and glass and jewelry by Peter Brenner. There are three stages of eclectic live music: co-headliners include Great Moments in Vinyl, featuring music of the Beatles, David Bowie and Fleetwood Mac, and La Tosca, featuring Italian and Latin influences. Twenty acts and 50+ performers spanning jazz, reggae, blues, funk, flamenco, African drumming, Americana, pop/rock, classical music, barbershop and choir singing will create a rich musical backdrop for the two-day event. A beer and wine Garden is available, with craft beer and Arrogant Frog Wine from France and food from Fireside Restaurant & Lounge. A young artists’ gallery is also on display, with artworks and performances from 11 area schools.
