The renowned theater company, established in 1925, settled into its new home in the heart of the Loop theater district in December, 2000. Under the artistic direction of Robert Falls, the company has premiered works by Arthur Miller, Carson Becker, Luis Alfaro, Regina Taylor, Eric Bogosian, Keith Reddin, David Cale, Mary Zimmerman and others; and developed important new works, including "Marvin's Room," by Scott McPherson, "Seven Guitars," by August Wilson and "Spinning Into Butter," by Rebecca Gilman. The current artistic collective includes Falls, Zimmerman, Taylor, Frank Galati, Henry Godinez and Chuck Smith. The Goodman is home to an annual production of Dickens' "A Christmas Carol," and frequently hosts productions by Congo Square Theatre and other local partners. The complex features two performance spaces and an on-site restaurant, Petterino's.
