DePaul University's Chicago Playworks, which was founded as the Goodman Children's Theatre in 1925, was one of the first children's theaters in the United States. It has always been known for its excellence, and it seems to be getting better with each season. Productions staged at the historic Merle Reskin Theatre range from traditionally told fairytales to cutting-edge plays.
