Taking its name from the David Mamet play "American Buffalo," the professional Buffalo Theatre Ensemble strives to reflect the naturalistic style of Mamet's work. Artistic director Craig Berger leads the company (as he has since its inception in 1987) through seasons that typically include three straight plays and one musical, each in a five-week run. Each season BTE brings one of its shows downtown to an Off-Loop theater, but it is blessed with a beautiful modern facility at its College of DuPage home, the Harold D. McAninch Arts Center. Its audience base includes more than 1,000 subscribers.
