Powerhouse Restaurant and Bar

215 N. Clinton St.
Chicago, IL 60661
312-928-0800
This eatery is located in the The Powerhouse, the historic Near West Side Beaux Arts-style building that used to house the coal-fired generators and boilers that provided the juice for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad (you've probably spotted the massive 223-foot smokestack that tops the building). Owners Jimmy Alexander (a former partner in Artopolis Bakery Cafe & Agora and Pegasus Restaurant and Taverna) and Mitchell Schmieding (a former Charlie Trotter’s manager), are offering a duo of dining options with both an upscale restaurant and a more casual bar area with sandwiches, salads and more. The menu features choices like a burger with sharp Cheddar and Nueske’s bacon on a brioche bun and andouille sausage gumbo in the bar, and slow-roasted pheasant and red wine braised short ribs in the dining room at dinner.
