Our favorite spots in the neon-bright land of corporate chains
We all love to hate on Schaumburg for it's corporate culture and cookie-cutter chain restaurants on every corner. But let's face it: It's ridiculous high density of spots to shop, snack and imbibe is insanely impressive. Here's a few of our favorites -- the best of the chains and a few indies -- The Cheesecake Factory not included.
Everyone in Schaumburg has an opinion about The Bamboo Room: They either loved it or they hated it. The entire space has been gutted -- goodbye tiki tchotchkes -- and revamped to make way for new nightclub Heat.
This Woodfield-area outpost of the well-known Houlihan's chain remains loyal to its old-school decor, with vintage movie posters lining the dark-wood walls.
Sushi lovers and monstrous appetites be warned--this 160-foot all-you-can-eat sushi/Japanese buffet takes no prisoners. It features 40 types of sushi, plus hot dishes, desserts and fruit. Options include snow crab legs, scallops, sashimi and green tea cheesecake.
The menu here features a rotating selection of grilled fresh fish choices (like rainbow trout, red snapper an ahi tuna); select your fish and then pick a sauce (such as warm mango salsa or lime tomato garlic).
Rosebud has taken over the Chicago Prime Steakhouse space and converted it into a family-friendly, pasta-focused spot with a menu similar to the Taylor Street original.
