Chef Jorge Almaraz matches Mexican flavors and tropical ingredients with seasonal seafood at this Mount Prospect destination. This restaurant's nondescript exterior hides an attractive wood, brick and tile interior with pine tables, plenty of pictures of -- you guessed it -- flamingos and an open kitchen. A big menu offers appetizers like mahi mahi ceviche and beautifully presented seafood dishes such as fresh oysters, pan-roasted freshwater king prawns in garlic butter and pan-fried imperial jumbo shrimp wrapped in bacon over smoky guajillo sauce. Expect specials to change every two weeks or so, with seasonal specials like macadamia nut-crusted Chilean sea bass with guava beurre-blanc and saffron rice. There are a few steaks for meat lovers and house-made desserts, too. An outdoor patio provides the perfect perch for sipping a margarita.
