This Lakeview spot specializes in zucker waffles. Specializes in what? Well, these waffles are not the Brussels-style Belgian waffles dripping with butter and syrup; these are the other Belgian waffles (from Liege). What makes 'em different? The dough, made with a wheat-based yeast sweetened with sugar pearls. The pearls burst and caramelize when the dough hits the waffle iron, resulting in a sugary waffle that doesn't need all the toppings (but if you need 'em, they have 'em). The menu also offers gelato and sorbet, plus coffee and espresso. So what's up with the name? Don't go looking in the dictionary; owners made it up by playing with words from several languages.
