Sak's Ukrainian Village Restaurant & Lounge

2301 W. Chicago Ave.
Chicago, IL 60622
773-278-4445
This is a neighborhood tavern paired with an authentic ethnic eatery. The family-run feel is indelible, and the people behind the bar and in the kitchen are so darn friendly that it's keeping the surly neighborhood hipsters at a distance. Go to Sak's only if you like cold beer, platters full of hearty sausage and potatoes and a comfortable, conversational atmosphere. At the front is the bar, a classic style with a curving bar back and well-worn arm rail that has probably been there for close to 80 years. This area has three large televisions hanging over it, so it's a great spot for sports. In back are the booths and tables and a wall of Ukrainian folk art. Impress your friends by telling them you've been coming to Sak's since before this neighborhood even heard the word "gentrification."
