In a twist of real estate fate, Matt Miller, the founder of Orange and the now-shuttered Darwin’s (he sold both in 2005 when he split for California), has opened this unpretentious Bucktown bar in the former Darwin’s address. Sorry, there’s no frushi or pumpkin-wasabi corn dogs on the menu here; Miller limits the offerings to burgers (beef, veggie and more) and sides like Belgian ale-battered onion rings and thick-cut double-fried fries. The low-key space features exposed brick and recovered wood from an old, weathered barn, plus chalkboard walls -- budding poets and artists are encouraged to add their prolific thoughts and artwork. The back room features a stage, surround sound and an 8-foot projection screen where you can challenge your tablemates to a fierce “Guitar Hero” contest.
