Everything about this landmark lounge says "blues joint," from the corny tinsel decorations to the dusty piano in the corner of the back room. For more than 50 years, the 113 Club has provided Chicago with some of its best blues parties. Now, under owner Devera, the club is trying to make a comeback and bring blues nights with it. "This is a legendary club, and we want to keep it that way," says Devera. Once a citywide attraction, the New 113 Club is mostly a neighborhood set now, offering card tournaments, neighborhood celebrations for birthdays and weddings. The Checkerboard Lounge is nearby.
