Fresh-beer enthusiasts have always benefited from the Goose Island label in the Chicago area. But the nectar is served up even fresher in the label's own brew pub. The menu features more than 50 different ales and lagers, including Honkers Ale, Ceres Wheat, XXX Porter and Naughty Goose. A large central bar is often jam-packed with an after-work crowd watching Cubs or Bears games. This is a good place to check out college football games too. Pub food is good and includes salads, fish, pasta and sandwiches. Tours of the brewery take place at 3 and 4:30 p.m. every Sunday, followed by a brewer-led tasting. All this -- and souvenirs, too -- for just $5.
