With its bright-lights marquee and affordable menu, Union Park attracts a crowd of Bulls and Blackhawks fans on their way to United Center, plus young professionals looking for a much-needed place to kick back in the West Loop (which used to be called Union Park). Under new ownership as of fall 2009, the bar boasts a full-time chef who changes the menu monthly based on customer feedback -- so speak up if you've got raves or rants. Fried calamari, barbecued ribs and a tasty but messy burger slathered with spicy sauce and melted blue cheese are favorites, while a grilled veggie sandwich is a nice vegetarian option. The decor's a throwback to old-school Chicago with its classic white-tiled columns, marble bar and Tiffany-esque light fixtures, but the 26 large flat-screen TVs bring you back to the present.
