This sleek Near South Side sushi lounge with Asian-inflected decor has a six-seat sushi bar plus table seating, elevated platform seating and a private VIP room. (The VIP room will set you back $50, but you get control of your own 37-inch plasma screen TV, DVD player and sound system. BYO movies, borrow Triad's or ask them to make a run to the video store in advance.) The large menu includes apps such as tuna tartare, oyster shooters, and sake and garlic sauteed mushrooms. Nigiri and sashimi are available by the piece, and maki choices include the Kenju (named for the chef), with shiitake mushrooms and marinated bluefin tuna. There's also a rookie plate of cooked choices for the squeamish. Entree options include Asian five-spice pork chops, Sapporo-marinated grilled Atlantic salmon and rib-eye teriyaki. Though Triad has a full bar, BYOB is permitted for wine only with no corkage fee.
