"This is a wonderful time of year," Jennifer Kainz of The Onion Pub and Brewery said. "I can’t think of a better way to enjoy the weather than on our patio."
The Onion Pub and Brewery guarantees only the freshest beer, having expanded its full-scale brewery’s production last spring with the addition of four new 40-barrel fermenters and storage tanks, custom built for its unique basement location. The brewing company has also planted four different types of hops, the flowers of which are used to flavor the beer and act as a natural preservative.
Its foods are created with the same commitment to freshness and quality through the use of as many locally sourced ingredients as possible. Such standards also apply to the building itself, as the timber frame of the pub is built from recycled timbers that pre-date the American Revolution. Its building is also perched on a restored gravel quarry that holds water for the local watershed.
"Now that summer is here, come and sit with us on the patio and enjoy the fruits of our labor with us," Kainz said.
The patio at The Onion Pub and Brewery does close for the occasional event, so consider calling ahead before arriving if patio seating is desired.

About The Onion Pub and Brewery
The Onion Pub and Brewery began as the Wild Onion Brewing Company in 1996 with the simple goal of brewing the finest beer available to local beer drinkers. Its original brewery was located two blocks away and was pieced together with used dairy tanks in a small warehouse. As The Onion Pub and Brewery grew its keg and bottle sales throughout Chicagoland, it began to dream of building a taproom and pub on its site. That dream became reality when the Onion Pub & Brewery opened its doors to the public in 2003. The Onion Pub and Brewery invites the community to visit its three banquet rooms that can accommodate up to 250 guests.
