This Uptown spot located in the Argyle or "New Chinatown" area gives top billing to its desserts. Traditional chewy, gooey concoctions and tiny gelatin molds in a range of eye-catching colors and shapes call out to customers from the pastry case prominently displayed near the front window. The rest of the pleasant storefront features artwork from owner/chef Aumphai Kusub's native Thailand. Hot sellers on the menu include the fish cake appetizer served with cucumber, classic pad Thai, steamed mussels, whole red snapper with hot pepper, and roast duck salad. The lunch special is a great value, especially considering it is prepared fresh instead of languishing under a heat lamp for hours at a buffet table. If you stop by during the week between 11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m., you can have your choice of 12 noodle or rice dishes plus an appetizer and soup of the day. If you phone in a delivery request though, stick to ordering by the numbers -- our mispronunciations were met with peals of laughter, although they did include a free dessert for the effort.
