For a unique, modern bistro-like experience without the hefty bistro prices, check out this River North restaurant run by the students of Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Chicago (the Cooking and Hospitality Institute of Chicago). Culinary apprentices prepare and serve all meals, which take simple, high-quality ingredients and transform them into gourmet meals using classic cooking techniques. The menu changes monthly but might include favorites such as tartine sandwiches on artisan bread for lunch or miso salmon served on Asian veggies for dinner. Prix-fixe meals run from $12-15 and include an appetizer, soup or salad, and an entree, giving you more bang for your buck and students extra experience in the kitchen.
