This is the Chicago Symphony Orchestra's home base, located across the street just south of the Art Institute. It's also the location for many other events, including concerts by visiting orchestras, the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and the Chicago Youth Symphony, Saturday morning children's concerts, recitals and a flourishing jazz series. Renovations totaling $110 million, completed just in time for the CSO's 1997-98 season, improved the stage, auditorium and public areas (including more and bigger restrooms) and added a new recital hall and interactive classical music learning area that is open daily to the public. The Michigan Avenue lobby now connects -- through an arcade -- to another entrance, at the corner of Adams and Wabash. A restaurant called Rhapsody located on the Adams Street side (under the L train tracks) offers pre- and post-concert menus and drinks.
