Chef-owner David Richards' charming cafe offers upscale contemporary American fare with a French twist. The pink-and-brown interior with matching chandelier and vintage artwork makes a lovely setting for formal tea, served weekdays by reservation only. Tea tasting menus offer a variety of petit fours, sweet breads and savory sandwiches. Dinner items are less dainty: The kobe beef burger is topped with Normandy goose foie gras and truffle mayo on a brioche bun. Duck fat frites with smoked sea salt make a rich accompaniment. Lighter fare includes tomato bread soup and curried potato vichyssoise with chervil salad and creme fraiche. The fixed price menu is seven courses at dinner. Sunday brunch includes roasted pear griddle cakes and red wine poached eggs with mushroom and shallot ragu and toasted brioche (also fixed price).
