As they say in public service messages, reading is FUNdamental. But Scottsdale Library offers more than just books and magazines. You can pick up federal and state tax forms, as well as register to vote. For a small fee, you can rent movies. Each month, the library offers different programs for patrons such as Storytime for Little Folks, a program where children enjoy stories and more, led by the children's librarian, Barbara Gibson. The library also provides the space for the Youth/Young Adult Chess Group to meet on Saturday. This program is open to newcomers and experts alike who want to learn how to play or need some friendly competition. Recently instituted is the Check Us Out Card, a card that you check out of your Chicago public library with your library card and use for free admission to popular museums in the downtown Chicago area, such as the the Museum of Science and Industry and the Adler Planetarium. You must be an adult Chicago Public Library cardholder and a resident of the City of Chicago to participate. The library also has a bulletin board of educational neighborhood happenings along with free pamphlets about the city, college programs, diseases and more.
