SciTech, founded in 1988 by scientists from Fermilab and volunteers from the community, is an educational science center dedicated to teaching the principles of basic science and introducing people of all ages to new technologies. Hands-on exhibits focus on light and color, sound and music, magnets and electricity, heat, astronomy, weather science, mathematics and chemistry. Real scientific equipment is used to make scientific principles clear. A big new attraction is the Grainger Solar Telescope, which uses high-tech optics and imaging equipment to provide detailed views of the sun.
