This East Garfield Park spot serves up some of the most popular soul food on the West Side, including fried chicken, short ribs, meatloaf and mac and cheese, to name a few. The bright, cheerful interior is matched by the sugar-sweet staff, most of which are leftover from the legendary Edna’s Restaurant, which shared the same location for 40 years. Known for the golden biscuits, corned beef and meaty pork neck bones in particular, the regulars have been coming back for home-style sides like collard greens, cornbread, mashed potato with gravy and fried okra. Be sure to save space for the peach cobbler and banana pudding, a famous capstone to the meal.
