This family-owned small batch brandy tasting room and distillery that smells like apples. That's because once the distillery opens Nov. 2, it will pour Rhine Hall's clear, unaged apple brandy--made completely from apples without the addition of neutral spirits--followed within the month by grappa and an oaked apple brandy. Though owner Jenny Solberg recommends sipping the spirits straight, Rhine Hall also will have a menu of two or three cocktails that incorporate cider or syrups from Madison, Wis.-based Quince & Apple. If visitors like what they taste, bottles of the brandy will be available for purchase at the distillery and soon will be distributed to bars and retail shops.
