I use to frequent Duchomp a lot and really like this spot. It does have a great outdoor seating and the remodeling they did inside as Red Door looks really cozy and modern. That being said the drinks were rather pricey and no where near as good as Duchomp's drinks were. I was there with a group of friends and we each ordered a different drink. They were all far too sweet. One drink and I moved to beer, they do have a very good beer list. I am the first to say, I appreciate small plates, I hate when restaurants server you way to much food. However there is a fine line between small plates and just not serving enough food for the price. My friend ordered the salmon which came out sashimi style and was literally four little slivers of fish. I had the gnocchi which was a very little portion too about five peices of pasta which is OK because it is a heavier pasta, however it was served aside a glob of sauce that was basically pure butter. I did not even finish the meal, I was not a fan of dipping pasta in butter. My husband ordered the grilled octopus and I think that charcoled would have been a better description. It was burnt and crispy. My friends did however really enjoy the poutine which had a unique flavor. Overall, I think everything just fell short of good. I really want to like this place. If anything sit on the patio enjoy a beer! Perhaps once it has been open a little longer they will iron out some of the kinks. The Bristol is just a block away serving food and drinks at a much higher calaber for the same price point.
