Remember 10 or 20 years ago when record stores actually sold records? A trip to Raffe's Record Riot is a journey back to the golden age of vinyl with thousands upon thousands of records spread throughout the store in virtually every musical category. Also available is one of Chicagoland's most alternative selection of CDs and tapes, both new and used. But the main attraction to Raffe's is the enormous stock of new and used records, which has continued to grow since 1991 while almost every other record store in the nation has tried to phase out vinyl. The walls are cleverly decorated with original posters dating back to the early 1970s. Local radio fans can even see an original WXRT-FM poster from the rock station's very first days in 1973. With equally nostalgic music playing on the store's sound system, Raffe's is fun for music enthusiasts who want to remember how things used to be.
