Protein BarRiver North | Website
The River North outpost of this healthy eatery chain serves the same natural, organic, low-sugar items as its other Chicago locations. After losing 55 pounds at 22, owner Matt Matros--who also worked as a brand manager at Kraft Foods--was inspired to create a place where diners could nosh on smoothies and high-protein-packed fare like Bar-riots, made using whole-wheat wraps and quinoa instead of rice to cut calories. The River North location will also house a juice bar offering fresh-pressed vegetable and fruit juices, prepared as you watch. Patrons are also welcome to hang out and watch CNBC or ESPN on the eatery's two flat-screens--or indulge in its free wifi.
