This family-owned restaurant, named after the city of Palermo, Italy (the three brothers who started the pizzeria hail from Sicily) originally opened in 1961 as a small pizzeria at the intersection of 63rd Street and Hamlin Avenue -- they moved to this larger location in 1976 and expanded to a full-menu adding entrees like baked lasagna, spaghetti and meatballs, and veal Marsala. Palermo's still specializes in pizza - they offer thin crust, stuffed and deep dish pan.
