Though it’s located inside the Chicago History Museum, this cafe serving all-day breakfast, sandwiches, salads and other light fare is open to everyone. The compact menu pays homage to Chicago neighborhoods (witness the Jefferson Park Farm sandwich and the Little Village Mexican omelet) and proudly incorporates Chicago-based brands—the chocolate chip cookies are Blommer’s, the chips are Vitner’s and the Chicago-style dog is (of course) Vienna Beef. Even the brownies are based on the recipe used at the Chicago World’s Fair in 1893. In a departure from the locally made theme, the coffee lineup comes courtesy of Julius Meinl. Hunker down with yours and take advantage of the cafe’s free-with-purchase WiFi or take your latte for a stroll in nearby Lincoln Park.
