Next Theatre Company is an established and much-honored Equity theater housed since 1981 in the Noyes Cultural Center (a sprawling former elementary school). Its audiences have enjoyed a well-balanced programming mix of classics, contemporary drama, and new plays. Recent representative successes include the Chicago premieres of "The Laramie Project," "In the Blood" by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Suzan-Lori Parks and "Far Away" by Caryl Churchill. With the appointment of Jason Loewith as artistic director, the theatre continues its drive toward excellence and provides a great venue for those looking for something more biting that the usual fare. New seats were installed in 1996.
