The menu at this Loop cafe may have names such as "Baja Surf Tacos," "Oklahoma Bacon Cheeseburger" and "Meatball Sub," but don't be fooled by semantics -- all dishes are 100 percent plant-based. A chain based out of California and helmed by vegan chef and author Tanya Petrovna, entrees include options like the Spring Kale Salad (with crunchy kale, shredded cabbage, apples and avocado in a maple-orange dressing and topped with currants, almonds and tahini) or the Native Nachos (with corn tortilla chips covered in black beans, taco "meat," chipotle crema, native "cheese," salsa fresca and guacamole). When it opens this winter, expect each location (the others are in Wicker Park and Lakeview) to include hip décor that's tailored to its neighborhood.
