Mike and Rick Roombos, former building rehabbers who took up Italian ice as a hobby, are now up to their elbows in the slushy treat. The brothers trained with a local pastry chef and practiced on friends before launching this location in 1997. The basement walk-up was such a hit, they followed up with a second Miko's in Logan Square. The No. 1 flavor is traditional lemon, but they also offer flavors like banana with semi-sweet cocoa chips, pina colada and coconut. If you're looking for something less sugary, they also have iced coffee. There are a few plastic chairs scattered under a tree, but for the most part this is a carryout operation.
