Breaks my heart to write this review. I live right now the street from this place, and have probably eaten here easily 20 times in just the past year -- not to mention recommended it to countless friends. Today someone at my table ordered the crabcake burger. The second it arrived everyone mentioned how "foul and fishy" it smelled. The waitress was politely notified, and we requested the dish be replaced. The waitress then said she needed to speak with the lady at the front. When she returned, she informed us we would have to pay FULL PRICE for a new entree. haha, I dine out often, and I can't EVER recall this type of policy. I went up to the front to explain to the redheaded lady in charge how gamey and bad tasting the crab burger was (not that this explanation should even be necessary.) She never even inspected it, and then tried to tell me that it was a "seafood" burger and that's how it should taste -- as though I had never eaten crab in my life. Ridiculous. After much haggling, she finally said she would extend a "discount". Not only did they not replace the unsatisfactory dish, a dining first for me, the "discount" that was extended when the bill arrived was a measly $2.50 and a complimentary cookie! Hard to believe that a restaurant that I have easily brought in over a thousand dollars worth of business in 2012 (and never once returned a dish) wanted to haggle over an item under $15.
The whole incident was just really disappointing to say the least. I paid the bill, and left their insulting cookies on the table.
I really hope the owner, Gus, rethinks his customer service policy and retrains his staff accordingly. Looks like I'll be returning to Glenn's diner down the street. Incidentally, they also serve crab there...and it doesn't taste like it has been rotting in the back of the fridge for 4 weeks.
