Margie's has been sweet on fun since it opened in May 1921. This family business is one of the few places in Chicago that still holds the charm of the "good old days." The homemade candies and chocolates are very popular, as is the wonderful selection of banana splits, sundaes, shakes and other fountain creations. The family is also very proud of the fact that they make their own ice cream. Margie's also has a regular restaurant menu, but there is a danger of eating too much and not having room for dessert. Recent media coverage and its location (near the gentrifying Bucktown neighborhood) is attracting new customers. Peter Poulos is the third generation in charge of this place. He says he always follows his mother's motto: "Highest quality, best possible service, and be proud of your product." And they are!
