This neighborhood favorite for Thai food suffered a fire in 2008 and shut its doors. After a complete rebuild, the owners, who in the interim opened Manee Thai #2 in West Town, re-opened on the original site in 2010. The extensive Thai-centric menu (there's also a smattering of Chinese and Japanese dishes) features authentic faves such as curries, noodle dishes, soups and Thai salads like nam sod and yum woon sen. Don't miss the meang khum appetizer (foldable lettuce leaves filled with toasted coconut, peanuts, dry shrimp, fresh ginger, shallots and lime) or the cashew duck (roasted duck stir fried with cashews, pineapples, onions and veggies). House-made icy beverages in flavors such as watermelon, guava, and green tea and red bean are a specialty too. For dessert, try the cocobanana and pearls (banana pieces in warm coconut milk with tiny tapioca pearls) or the sweet mango sticky rice.
