The New York bakery that specializes in vintage American desserts opened its first Chicago location at Block 37 in the Loop. Though its pastel-hued cupcakes made famous by mentions on 'Sex and the City" and "Saturday Night Live," the shop sells plenty of other treats. Icebox cakes are made from layers of whipped cream and chocolate wafers, while fluffy, light mini-cheesecakes come in flavors such as Key lime and red velvet. The same buttecream frosting that tops the cupcakes also goes to use to fill whoopie pies and whoopie cookies. Cake by the slice, pie, banana pudding, cookies, brownies and bars round out the dessert offerings, while muffins and coffee cake are baked fresh every morning and are available until the sell out.
