Light Opera Works was founded in 1980 for the preservation and authentic production of 19th and 20th century music theater works with high demands for musical excellence. The repertoire includes American, British, Viennese and French operettas, light operas and classic musicals. The 250-seat Second Stage opened in 1998, in the McGaw YMCA Child Care Center Auditorium in Evanston. Here, Light Opera Works presents smaller music theater works that are better suited to an intimate venue. Large productions are done at the Cahn Auditorium.
