The menu at this Chinatown spot from restaurateur Tony Hu (Lao Beijing, Lao Shanghai, Lao You Ju) features Szechwan dishes ranging from mainstream (moo shu pork, beef with oyster sauce) to more authentic (whole fish casserole soup and double-cooked spicy pork intestine). Favorites include dried chili chicken, boiled beef in spicy Szechuan sauce and spicy ma po tofu. Hot pot is also a specialty; look for three bubbling bases and multiple meat and vegetable options to dunk and swish. The dining room, which received a refresh after a fire in 2010, is simple and modern, featuring red accents and images of pandas.
